How to Put Hidden Vertical Pins in Your Blog Post

how-to-put-secret-vertical-pins-in-your-blog-post

Once I figured out this genius Pinterest hack, it was a game-changer for my blog. Today I am going to show you how to put hidden vertical images, ready for Pinterest. in your blog post.

On my blog, I like a mix of horizontal and vertical images, but unfortunately, horizontal images do not perform well when pinned to Pinterest.

I also like to have a few “Pinterest-friendly” images that provide a call to action to my post.

Instead of having multiple images, ready for Pinterest, living in my blog post, I have hidden these images in the post.

For example, here is an image that I have hidden on a post about LipSense.

I have made this image “invisible” but it shows up when someone clicks on their Pinterest extension on my website!

Here’s how to put hidden vertical Pins in your blog post

Here’s the secret code

<div style=”display: none;”>ADD YOUR IMAGE URL RIGHT HERE</div>

Step by step instructions

1. Create a long, vertical pin using Photoshop, Picmonkey, or Canva with 2:3 aspect ratio. The minimum width for a pin is 600 pixels and the maximum is 735 pixels.  I recommend 735 x 1102 pixel images.  These pins will be scaled to 238 pixels wide in the Pinterest main feed.

2. Upload the image to your media library in WordPress and insert the image at the top of your blog post. I do this so I can easily find the code.

3. In the HTML area, copy and paste the secret code below the image code.

4. Copy and paste the entire embedded image code and insert it into the area where it says “image code”.

5. Delete the above-embedded image code so all that is left is the secret hidden code.

6. Preview your blog post to check to see if the image is hidden.

7. Ta-da! Your secret pin is now hidden on your blog post. To share this pin on Pinterest, you have to install the Pinterest “pin it” extension to your Safari or Google Chrome browser.

I recorded the step by step process here:

I am sure it does because it’s just code! I use WordPress so I have a media library compared to Blogger.

Hi Lauren! So I tried this several times (and even watched the video) and after I replace image code with my image link and then move from text to visual the image is still there. Then, when I go back to text it has taken out …any idea why this might be happening?

Lauren, thank you for sharing this little secret {code}. I have been wanting to add vertical images to my pins but it seemed like it’d be a lot of work by not being able to include it in my blog post somehow. This is perfect!

For some reason, I cannot get this to work! I put in the image and then do as you say and the picture still remains. I tried doing it several ways and sometimes when I click back over to visual it separates the image code and the code you used. I’d appreciate any help you may have!
