At the beginning of the month, my buddy Nancy and I attended the Balsam Hill Holiday Event in Burlingame. It was the perfect way to kick off the holiday season!
If you have not heard of Balsam Hill yet, they are pretty much synonymous with Christmas. They are the #1 choice for set designers because of their trees’ unbelievable realism!
This was our first time attending this event, so we didn’t exactly know what was in store for us. All I knew about the event was that we were going to be participating in a wreath decorating contest and checking out the showroom.
Okay, this decorating contest was on a whole other level. The attendees from last year knew that the competition was stiff, so when the (sleigh) bell rang to get started, people were off and running to the decor! Nancy and I were left standing, still deciding which theme we wanted to take with our wreaths.
I went with a traditional red and gold theme with my wreath, so I grabbed a giant poinsettia to start things off. What I didn’t realize when making this wreath was how much hot glue I would be using. It’s genius! With hot glue, I can get any ornament or ribbon to stay put.
The whole time Nancy and I were in a fit of giggles. It was quite a hoot to be getting crafty with her. With the added pressure of our wreaths being judged, the completion was on.
While we didn’t win any prizes for the best wreathes, I think we both did an incredible job. I’m not kidding when I tell you that these bloggers brought their A-game to the event!
Ta-da!
Not to toot my own horn (beep, beep) but I love my wreath. It now hangs proudly on my front door. But I didn’t hang it on the outside, I actually put it up inside so I can enjoy it more!
Nancy and I cannot wait until next year’s event at Balsam Hill. We are going to be prepped with wreath ideas ahead of time and our running shoes to get to the decor first!
