Five Reasons to Love California

The average American moves about 11.5 times in their lifetime. But for me – I have blown past that number by nearly double! I have actually lost count after 30 moves.

Some of them have been across the country from California to Texas to Virginia. Then all the way back to California. But the majority of my moves have been locally in California.

ForRent.com has been a staple for us when deciding on where to live next. They have an enormous list of professionally managed apartments in most major cities across the United States.

Now to help potential renters feel more comfortable in their new city, they have available local guides. These guides are carefully curated to share local spots and hidden gems.

Of course, I had to check out the California guide! If you are looking for the perfect apartment, the guide goes into great detail about living in California and what to expect. But I have created my own list!

Five reasons to love California

The Outdoors

If you like to be outside, California is the place to be. From gorgeous beaches, and endless hiking trails, to snow-capped mountains, there is an activity for everyone.

Lately, Ernie and I are attempting to be outside more and take advantage of the scenery. Just last weekend, we headed off to Los Gatos with Mochi.

Of course, the possibility of brunch after a hike is a great motivator.

Tech

Living in Silicon Valley definitely feels like being inside a bubble, but it’s actually very exciting. The start-up boom means that there are endless amounts of companies who are trying to launch their company – and lots of opportunities for the people who want to be here.

Food

To be honest, I never really thought about the food in California until I left for Europe. After two weeks of travel, I was craving cheeseburgers, pho, sushi, and more.

Luckily, now that I am back in California, I can satisfy my cravings whenever I want!

Amusement Parks

Some of my fondest memories growing up in California involve amusement parks like Great America and Knott’s Berry Farm. I remember finally being tall enough to ride the “big-kid rides”…and instantly regretting it once the coaster took off!

Of course, there is Disneyland, which holds a special place in my heart.

Weather

As someone who has lived in Virginia for a number of years, I can definitely appreciate the weather in California. Even though I can handle thunderstorms and snow, it’s kinda great that I don’t have to deal with it each season.

If you are thinking about moving to California, or just dreaming of your next apartment, visit out ForRent.com.

I personally love San Diego. I think it has all of the great things about California within reasonable distance. Joshua Tree, Pacific Beach, Disneyland, Temecula, MEXICO! It’s all nearby and the days are warm without it being sweltering hot.

    1. Oooo I love San Diego as well. The Gaslamp Quarter is my favorite area down there!

I have never been to CA, but it’s funny you said amusement park, because I was just looking up Disneyland. We have been to Disney World a couple of times and I thought it would be fun to do something different and that a trip to CA would be fun. Thanks for sharing 🙂

    1. Awww you gotta go! We haven’t been to Disney World yet – it would be fantastic to go!!
