Throughout the day, I sometimes find myself in a lull where I am starting to feel sleepy and unmotivated. Instead of reaching for a cup of coffee, I found that stimulating my brain in other ways is more beneficial in the long run. Here are my 5 tips to keep your brain active throughout the day.
Play a game
YAY, Words with Friends is one of my favorite iPhone games. Now it’s better and more clever than ever.
To be honest, it’s the only game on my phone! I love being able to jump into the game whenever I have a moment. My husband and I used to be really competitive in the game, so I am excited to challenge him to a game again.
Find me under ‘pinkonthecheek’ and let’s play!
Go for a hike
Getting outdoors is not only good for me but great for Mochi! Whenever I am starting to feel a little stir-crazy at home, I strap on Mochi’s leash and walk around the neighborhood.
Cooking
This sounds funny, but if I am getting bored, I like to cook!
It allows me to relax and focus on the recipe but also allows me to catch up on meal prep for the week.
Reading
I know I need to catch up on my summer reading list. It’s a bad habit but instead of reading, I have been picking up my phone to get on Instagram.
This summer I am trying to do better and finish at least 3 books. If you have a favorite book this year, share them below in the comments!
Exercise
One of the perks of working at home is that I can easily fit in time to exercise. Depending on the day, I get up around 6:00 am and head to the gym.
If I am feeling like a slug, I will opt for working out after my morning meetings or in the afternoon. But it’s a great way for me to take a break from work and sweat it out!
If you are feeling unmotivated throughout the day, what do you like to do to stimulate your brain? Share below in the comments!

Thank you for sharing this! I make sure I read as much as possible but I’m interested to try out that game!
I do almost everything every day. I love to cook and read a great book.
Aside from reading, I do all these things and they make such a huge difference!
Wow, thats a nice post and very good to know because i love cooking or playing with my kids😊
Awesome tips! What I usually do is I’d stand up from my computer desk and make a cup of tea.
